The native HTTP status code standard for machine-to-machine micropayments. Monetize high-value APIs, AI inference tokens, and live data feeds with sub-cent settlement on Base.

How x402 Works: When an unauthorized client requests a protected endpoint, the server responds with 402 Payment Required containing payment parameters (recipient address, price in USDC, Chain ID 8453). The client pays on-chain, attaches the proof in the headers, and retries.
